Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before enrolling on the course:

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for startup founders—especially those with engineering or technical backgrounds—who are now responsible for leading go-to-market efforts and preparing to raise external investment.

Whether you’re pre-revenue or already selling and preparing to scale, this course provides the frameworks, tools, and guidance you need to build a repeatable GTM engine.

Where and when is the course held?

This course is delivered in person at various locations across the UK. Please complete the enquiry form and we will email you to confirm your nearest training venue and upcoming dates for the course.

How long is the course?

This is a one day course. The course is split into a morning and afternoon session, with the opportunity to network with your peers over lunch.

In the morning session we train you in how to build a GTM strategy, GTM engine and investment readiness from a GTM perspective. The afternoon session is delivered as a workshop, where you will have the opportunity to start building out your own company’s GTM strategy, GTM engine and plan your investment strategy and high level pitch.

Who else will be in my cohort? Will my competitors be there?

Cohorts are no more than 20 delegates. Within each cohort we aim to have a mix of companies with similar requirements and challenges from a GTM perspective, although this will not always be possible.

Within each cohort there may be companies from the same sector as yours, but we will always avoid putting competing companies together. We encourage delegates to share as much as possible, particularly during the workshop session in the afternoon, but if you are concerned about sharing data about your business, please advise us in advance of the course date.

What will I walk away with after completing the course?

After completing the course, you’ll have:

  • A high level GTM strategy document, aligning your GTM and product development needs.
  • GTM worksheets, checklists and canvas templates personalised for your business.
  • A high level pitch deck and the ability to confidently present your GTM plan to investors.
Are there any eligibility criteria for this course?

This course has no eligibility criteria.

Do I need to have any prior knowledge of GTM or finance?

No prior knowledge is required, and we try to explain everything in plain language. Whether you come from a technical, product or business background, we aim to equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to build an investor ready GTM engine for your business.

Can I share course content with my co-founders and wider team?

Yes, information can be shared internally within companies that are registered for this course.

However, as building your GTM is a collaborative and iterative process for your entire founding team, including technical founders, we recommend that as many team members as possible attend the course to maximise the benefits for your company and ensure that your team is aligned.

What if I still have questions after taking the course?

You’re not alone on this journey. After completing the course you’ll be invited to join the SUM Founder Network, where you can ask questions and access additional GTM resources and support.

If you need further support to develop your GTM Roadmap or prepare for investment, please get in touch to find out how we can help.
